Rio Rancho, NM (October 31, 2022) – The New Mexico Runners have officially announced their 2022-23 season schedule. New Mexico’s first Major Arena Soccer League team will be kicking off their 4th season this December with the first home match taking place on Saturday January 7th, 2023 at the Rio Rancho Events Center. Kick off is scheduled for 2:05 PM Mountain Time.
New Mexico will start the 4th season on the road against the Kansas Bandits in Dodge City, Kansas on Sunday December 18th, 2022 at 3 PM Central Time.
Since its inception in 2018, the Runners organization continues to be owned and operated by a 100%
New Mexican and 100% Hispanic family. Team Owner Andres Trujillo employees family members to work within the organization and help make it a success. Wife and co-owner Kathryn is responsible for game day operations while his mother Annette is the organization’s Ticketing Director. It doesn’t stop there as his aunt Laura is Fan Engagement Director and can be seen at every home game.

The New Mexico Runners organization was recently awarded the Albuquerque Business First Inaugural Family Business Award in 2022 for their continued commitment to bringing positivity to the community through sport.
Last season the Runners finished with a record of 4-8, but went on to win 3 out of the last 5 games of the 2021-22 season scoring an incredible 42 goals in those 5 mentioned games. 16 of those goals came by 3rd team all-league selection Forward Mehrshad Ahmadi.
USL soccer Hall of Fame Inductee and New Mexico Sports hall of Fame Nominee Steve Famiglietta will continue on as Head Coach in his 4th season for the Runners. He will be accompanied in coaching by Assistant Coach and son Nick Famiglietta.
“I’m extremely excited for our upcoming season! The last half of our 2021-22 season showed how our team chemistry came together and produced success. We are going to be utilizing the same methodology for our upcoming 4th season!” Says Famiglietta.
New Mexico hosted team tryouts a few weekends ago at the Rio Rancho Events Center to find new talent to add to the roster. A couple of new athletes stood out and the roster will be announced in the coming weeks which include standouts from last season’s roster.
The New Mexico Runners will play 6 matches at home and 6 on the road this season against teams within the Midwest Division. The season will begin in December 2022 and run through March 2023. All home matches are in bold:

Currently, there are 15 teams from across the country within the Major Arena Soccer League 2 (MASL2) for the 2022-23 season. New Mexico will play in the Midwest division which consists of Colorado Springs, Amarillo, Wichita (KS), and Dodge City (KS). The league’s 15 teams will play a total of 90 regular season games, with all 90 of them coming on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday, according to league Commissioner Chris Economides.

The Runners are excited to announce an amazing partnership between them and International Indoor Soccer Arena (IISA). IISA is an indoor soccer facility that hosts leagues for all ages and will be the “Official Training Center of the New Mexico Runners” for the 2022-23 season! IISA owners Nico Muñiz and Darcy Odom felt that “…this partnership is crucial to the expansion of the arena soccer game and what better way to do this than to partner with New Mexico’s Major Arena Soccer League team.”
The New Mexico Runners will kick off their fourth season on the road against the Kansas Bandits December 18th.
